 I absolutely love a great looking coat. Seriously - they're nothing better. It can easily turn your everyday wear into something really special. However, most of these super stylish coats leave a little to be desired in the dead of winter. Especially when you're braving the elements to get to work or schlepping around town with the kids.
However, it used to be the more "practical" coats were never very stylish. Not so anymore. Retailers are really kicking it up a notch and turning those long, puffy sleeping bags into something of a fashion statement.
Check out a few of my favorites....
- Garnet Hill's Isis Long Down Coat looks absolutely snuggly and stylish. Plus the parka length is great for when you have to brave the elements to get to work.
- This Columbia Mt. Rosa Hooded Down Bomber is awesome as well. Lots of colors to choose from plus a spot
for your iPod. How cool is that?
- And to continue with the whole fur trim theme, which is huge this season I must say, this Iridescent Down and Faux Fur Jacket from Eddie Bauer is great too. Love the tea rose color.
- Lands' End has a ton of coats to choose from as well. Plus they give you each coat's "temperature rating." So cool. My fav is the quilted goose down jacket. Great colors and its super warm without being bulky.
You've got lots of options here. Go with a parka or a shorter jacket, but definitely get yourself a "practical" coat for those really chilly winter days. You'll keep yourself toasty warm all winter long and look oh so fabulous doing it. |
